I had another zombie dream last night. It was quite structured too. Much of it I got from various television sources and recent events.
When the dream started out I was at Camp Michigania, or at least rowing around on a lake that was similar to the one that was there. As usual, I looked down in th water and found the old mill that had fallen into the water. The wooden beams... seeing those under the water always made me afraid. I rowed back to shore and entered a huge house that seemed to be there. Oddly, I think it was a version of the White House. Stockard Channing was there (I don't even watch The West Wing) but everyone was buzzing about getting everyone out of the area. I don't know what my role was, but they wanted me to get out with them. I refused because there were people I was leaving behind - specifally, Mike #2 my ex-boyfriend. My husband wasn't in my dream, which he always asks about because the last time he was in one of my zombie dreams there was something to do with me swinging a very heavy shovel at someone's head (I thinking twas his or a zombie attacking him... I like tothink the latter). Anyway, eventually Mike #2 showed up with a few other people who I can't remember. I was so worried about him and so happy that he was still alive. He was also looking for me and very relieved to find me well, unlike last weekend in Austin where he was pretty much indifferent to my presence (that was reality, not the dream). We packed up and went to an appartment area. On the way to this place we realized that everyone around us was starting to go pale and get wierd bumps on their face (kind of like the wraiths on Stargate SG-1). From somewhere we got the information that people were turning into zombies and all they wanted to do was infect others. They were smart and all they ahd to do was bite someone. If you were lucky, they ate you.
At the apartment, I realized we were going to be there for a long time before we would get out safe. Several other people showed up (including the girl who played Kaylee in Firefly -- she survived by painting her face and behaving like a zombie making it easier for her to pass by them). They were organizing to go out and get food. I told them we had to get water, that we really needed that more than food. By this time there was no running water and I was worried about dehydration. They agreed and we went to get supplies. We made it back and waited the infection out (sort of 28 Days Later in that they were dying off after a while).
There was a suprising number of people still alive. At this point, there had been a spaceship in space carrying Michelle Rodriguez (yes, I watch a little too much Resident Evil and Lost). She came back to Earth and I was speaking with her. She was talking about how horrible it was to hear everything up in space and not do anything. I asked if she knew how it started... an alien frequency a-la Threshold. At which point she got an evil look on her face grabbed something out of her pocket and pushed a button releasing another signal and instantly transforming herself and several others into Zombies. I ran to the apartment where I discovered Mike #2 had abandoned me and wasn't returning.
My mother showed up. It ended up she was infected. I kept running from location to location trying to get away. Eventualy I ended up jumping out a window (there was also something about sunlight beams which I'm sure came from the BloodRayne2 video game I was playing right before I fell asleep). I started running. I saw everyone was infected. I wanted to find Mike #2 but I knew I was thoroughly and utterly abandonded and would never see him again. I was alone in a world full of things that were trying to kill me. I didn't know where to go and I was by myself. I employeed Kaylee's idea of looking/acting like the zombies to get by them but this time they knew. I came face to face with Michelle Rodriguez. I knew that was it. There was no getting out of this one. She approached me... and my husband entered the bedroom waking me up just barely in time for me not to become one of them.
