Not much to say. Cicero had an ultrasound yesterday. Cost a lot and we found out nothing. Still waiting for test results. We got his callendar in. Yes, Cicero is ineed Mr. November (runner up) in the SICSA callendar. Go pick one up . It's for a good cause. He's much cuter than most of the pictures that won.

It's sort of funny having a kitty with a shaved tummy... especially since he LOVES having his tummy rubbed but now he has no fur. Hopefully he will get better soon. It's hard having a baby who's sick.

Anyway, I'm here enjoying wine and chocolate and writing letters I'll never send. What a sad occupation for a Friday night. Mike will be home in a couple of hours. With any luck I'll be asleep by then. I'm tired. It's been a long day. And I'm optemistic I'll have better dreams tonight.

Last night we threw our first REAL party at our house. We had three lovely couples and a pair of roommates join us. Yes, because we know virtually no one in Ohio the people who were here were from work. But I hope they think of us as friends. I like to think that when you've got one of them browsing through your bar and mixing Bushwackers in your blender then you've nearly reached "friend" status.

Anyway, the purpose of our party was to play boardgames, drink, eat and be merry (Lord knows I could use a little "merry" around here right now). Since we had 10 people here, we split into two groups. Settlers of Catan in one room, Guillotine (or as Mike likes to call it "Kill the Frenchies") in the other. If you can get your hands on either of these games I recommend them highly. Catan is an online game now, but Guillotine is getting difficult to find. I recommend eBay. Anyway, eventually this degenerated into a card game called "Scum" (I was "vice scum" for most of the game... yay me) and finally Euchre, the standby of all gen X and Y ers when it comes to card games. We had a good time. The only thing that our night was lacking was a good bottle of Whiskey. Since Austin I've been in the mood for Bushmills. I had the crap we had lying around instead.

An update to this site: As you may have noticed, there is now a "Dream Diary" located in the nav bar. I'm still trying to puzzle out exactly how this should work, but I'm making an attempt to keep track of my dreams right now as well. I'm more likely to do this online than in a hand written book and I'm usually more than happy to share them (sometimes they are quite strange). The latest was another in a series of Zombie dreams I've been having over the past 2 years. I blame Mike and his Milla Jovovich obsession. Of course, I love Resident Evil too.

Kitty update: Cicero is puking again. He seems to not be constipated like he was, but we're a little worried. We're just not sure how to settle this poor guy's stomach. Vet Tuesday.

And if anyone knows anyone who was an adult when they got their tonsils out, please let me know. I'd appreciate it. It looks like that may happen. I will know more Monday.

The Bridge of Sighs,

Sorry for the image here but I'm testing a new feature for me to add images to my gallery as I write my bog. Kill two birds with one stone. Hopefully this will allow me to build my gallery as well (my OWN gallery, not the one that Globat has created for me).

So I'm not feeling much better yet. A few bad dreams. Well they weren't bad dreams until I woke up. I hate that. Those are worse than nightmares. I think it colored my mood for the day. So, after dance class, to blow off steam I indulged myself by driving around Springboro with my music blasting. I discovered something interesting: My top 25 most played songs on my iPod do not reflect my favorite songs. Take "Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums" by A Perfect Circle. Not one of my to 25 favorite songs, yet somehow I play it enough for it to make the list. Go figure.

So I think I'm successfully recovering from my Austin trip. Hopefully the bad dreams will go away soon so I can wake up in the morning without feeling icky.

I got Mike to put up my mirror downstairs last night. That means I finally have no excuse not to practice my belly dance. Well, I have a small one since I don't have speakers, etc. But I can fix that easily. I was reading about Apple's "AirTunes". Interesting. Might be worth it, but I already have a house-wide speaker system. Maybe I can hooks something less expensive into that.

Nick and Terri Kisler,

Just got back from Austin. I swore I'd never go back there but Nick got married! I had to go. The wedding was small and beautiful. It was an honor to be invited. I hadn't met Nick's fiance (now wife), but I liked her as soon as I met her. She's one of those people... the kind you meet for a very short time but you know you'd get along if you had a longer visit. So Terri became Terri Kisler and Nick gained a wife. Wow!

Mike and I left the reception relatively early (when the party started to get going). That's my fault. There was someone there who I very much wanted to see and at the same time never wanted to see again at the party. It was a little too hard on me. I guess somethings still sting like lemon juice poured on a paper cut no matter how many bandaids you patch on. To that person, should they ever read this (unlikely): At least put me on your Christmas card list so I know you're doing ok, otherewise I'm bound to go mad wondering. The ball is and always will be, as they say, in your court. And just a tip: in future situations shold there be any, being "nice" would have been introducing me to your girlfriend -- we at least have two things in common. Then maybe you wouldn't have had to be so antisepticly impersonal to me. And don't speak casually about a message you weren't brave enough to tell me yourself. Telling me you sent one through a friend and then NOT telling me what the message was... well, that's just rude. I wasn't the one who stopped talking. If I had my way you'd still be at least a small active part of my life.

(Sorry other friends... needed to vent).

Oh, and to anyone out there preparing a best man speech: Talk to my friend George. He'll tell you how to write a very nice "original" speach. The "old fashioned enough/modern enough" line has been used so many times it's just too tired and says that you really didn't put a lot of thought into the speach. Seriously. Google it. It's like the Best Man "Formula" speech. I know you can do better than that.

(ok, maybe that was a bit of a vent too)

Oh, and the places you can find versions of said speach: Free Weddding Speech, The Morning News, or Free Sample Best Man Toast. You can even find it in Norwegian.

Cicero seems to be doing better. He was so happy to come home on Monday, though Oberon wasn't too thrilled. He liked having Mike and I to himself.

Me, well... I'm not so lucky. I got the crud that's going around so it's antibiotics again. At least I don't appear to be allergic to this kind, thus far. Keep your fingers crossed.

So I guess my next steps with this website are to figure out the best way to manage my photos. After that, I intend to flesh about an "about me" area. Within that area I plan on having my resume (at least as much of it updated as I have currently), my family history and geneology information, perhaps hopefully a gallery if I feel like messing with it. I will do it eventually after all. Then it's off to create "battlestar.sarahbytes.com". Or does "galactica.sarahbytes.com" sound better?

Oberon and Cicero together,

So I've been working on this website all day and I've decided it's really annoying to try to use CSS for everything layout related. I know I'm just a CSS beginner but man... this is not straight forward! I will learn it, though. I think it's going to be an essential skill for me eventually.

I'm feeling better. My fever broke last night at around 11 p.m. which is a big relief. I'm still going easy on my stomach.

Cicero... I miss him. I don't know when he'll be back. Hopefully he'll be back and healthy tomorrow. If not, then that means there's more work to do in trying to make him healthy. I just hope he's doing ok and isn't scared to death. Keep your fingers crossed and if you pray, maybe a little one for my baby-cat would be appreciated. In the meantime, Oberon is enjoying having his mommy and daddy to himself.

So here is a funny thing... Cicero, my beloved kitty destructo, is sick. So naturally, I get sick too. He starts throwing up again, I start throwing up again. He spends the weekend in the hospital, I spend the weekend at home in and out of consciousness and fever. Unfortunately, as a result, I missed the wedding of my dear friend Sara Ulius to Jason Sabel (I may have met him at my wedding last year but frankly, I met so many people at my wedding I don't remember). I wish them the best and I'm very sorry I couldn't be there. We decided that between my stomach problems and wanting to be around if anything happend to the Ro-boy that we would need to stay in Dayton. Cicero... they took more x-rays and this time found that he may have some hair/fur or cloth patially blocking him. Guess I'm going to be more careful with my quilting in the future. They have him hooked to an I.V. water drip to try to flush it out. If it doesn't work, I suspect surgery but I honestly don't know. My poor baby boy.

For all of you out there who are thinking about going to see Serenity (the new Joss Whedon flick), go. If you watched Firefly, you'll like it. If you never did, you probably won't be lost but you might not have an appreciation for the characters that you would get otherwise. So go see it, then watch the series if you need to, then go see it again. But go. It was a great show (sorry I didn't see it when it was actually on TV).
