Happy Thanksgiving Day! Or rather, the day after. I've been busy and haven't been keeping up on my little site here. Here's a recap, if you are interested:
Last weekend Mike and I went to see Aerosmith in Columbus (yeah, that was fun... Columbus the day AFTER the Ohio State/Michigan game). This was at least my seventh time seeing Aerosmith in concert (hopefully not my last). Lenny Kravitz opened (oddly, very VERY fun), which is the first time I've seen someone I would considder "big name" opening for my favorite band. Aerosmith did a good job, but it was by far the worst concert I've seen by them. The music set they played was not up to par. They also seemed to play for a much shorter time than they have in the past (only two encore songs when usually they do at least three). They didn't hit my favorite songs, and of course they made me cry with "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" because, well if you know me well enough you know why. The best show of the evening was the mother-daughter-father trio sitting in front of us. I'm not going to go into detail here but to quote Ferris Buller's Day Off: "So that's how it is in their family."
Thanksgiving day was a little more low key than it has been in the past. Good food, not great like last year. There also wasn't anything on the table I would have called "healthy" except the turkey. But we had fun after dinner playing Munchkin and Guillotine with my mom and John (Kara's John... Kara wasn't there unfortunately but we're happy to have John). My mom actually won one of the rounds of the latter game, much to everyone's surprise.
We'll be heading up to Michigan tomorrow to see my friend Ginger and attend a U of M Hockey game. It's been several months since I've been back home (my longest time away to date). We may bring Cicero. He's throwing up again and we want to keep an eye on him. Poor little guy's tuckered out right now on the couch behind me.
Anyway, of to set up our Christmas tree. First Christmas in this house! Oh, that reminds me: Drain your water heater! Tuesday night ours decided to flood the basement due to lack of maitenance. Mike spent the entire night bailing water out of utility room until we got a guy to come out and give us a new (expensive) water heater. Talk about an unplanned financial ICK!!! Double bad because that same day we also signed a contract with a roofer at long last. Darn expenses that are necessary... I miss being able to be casually frivolous with my money and indulge things like my new MAC cosmetics addiction. When will the powers that be decide NOT to screw me over financially at least for one month? Is that too much to ask?

It's been a while since I've written I guess. Been a bit busy. I had my first sleep study last night. That was interesting. I think if I end up with one of those CPAP machines I want them to make mine look like Darth Vader's mask. Might as well go all out for it.
I am happy to report that Cicero coughed up a fur ball a few days ago and once again showing his manliness by chasing Oberon around the house continuously. The annoying little orange one even has started whining outside our bedroom door again, something he hasn't done for a while. I'm not sure he's in "the clear" yet, but he certainly isn't feeling bad. Keep on sending your kitty prayers -- He is, after all, Mr. November (see SICSA's callendar.... middle right).
I went to Chicago this past weekend with some of my Belly Dance class friends to see Michelle L'Amour's Lavender Cabaret show "Femme TV" at the Lakeshore Theater. Totally worth going if you're in the Chicago area. Particularly for the fire hoop, Michelle's fan dance, the "Derri-air Lines" skit, and the amazing acrobatic rope people. Michelle even remembered me from Kira's class (I'm not sure that's a good thing). Afterward we went to this club called Excalibur and I once again proved that I can not dance and that I hate crowded dance clubs that serve weak drinks. Apparently, since we were such a large group of girls or something, there were a few guys who thought we were strippers. I found this out afterward, of course. That's amusing. Not sure how anyone could mistake me for someone who can actually dance or that someone would WANT to see dance much less remove clothing while doing it. Anyway, I drove to Chicago and back... I'm never doing that myself again. I do NOT recommend Chicago, in the rain, with lots of traffic. We were lucky to get out of that city alive.
Saw the new Harry Potter movie tonight. I was dissapointed. Very dissapointed. The Goblet of Fire was my favorite of the series thus far but the movie did not do that book justice. I guess I've just been hoping that Voldamort would prove to be "the new Darth Vader" and I'm sorry... I love Ralph Finnes but he just wasn't as scary as he should have been. Perhaps he needed a bit more "Red Dragon" in his character. It will be interesting to see how that character developes but why oh why didn't anyone just squash the Dark Lord while he was weak and they had the chance? Seriously people. Lucius Malfoy should have just zapped him with his wand and taken his place. Why not?
Anyway, I'm not sure I have much else to say at this point. Hopefully I'll have plenty of time to work on this site next month while I'm recovering. In the mean time, yes I do know that I haven't been able to get my images to work properly at displaying "credit" information appropraitely. Let me sleep on it.

Mostly I'm just writing this entry to test my image gallery again. Something strange is going on, and I don't get it. I hate it when I have issues with my website.
Mike and I went to an apple orchard in Yellow Springs today. Everyone keeps telling me Yellow Springs is "Ann Arbor in Dayton". You know what? It's completely not. Yes, it has a tea room. Yes it has a place to go get your tarot cards read. Yes, it has some artsy fartsy furniture store. No, it doesn't NOT have the charm. It doesn't have the expansiveness or uniqueness of Main Street. And it deffinately doesn't have Ashley's, The Arbor Brewing Company, or Connor O'Neals. I hate it when I'm dissapointed by the "almost but not quite" syndrome that Ohio seems to have (or at least Dayton). If I'm going to live here fro the rest of my life (yikes) or even the next 15 years (I do have a house now) then I'm going to have to do something about this. Too bad doing something costs money.

It's Friday. I'm not exactly happy about it. I have too much work to do and too little time. Mike and I are supposed to go to Michigan this weekend for a hockey game on Saturday but Cicero's still sick, my dad's sick, and no one wants ME to get sick. Also, I promised some people at work I'd work a little magic and pull off a gag gift for someone's birthday (which, if I don't remember how to use Flash and integrate it by pulling variables off of querry string fast might be a little more than lame). So if we go to Michigan, it won't be until tomorrow.
Cicero update: The poor little guy had the runs a few days ago (we assume because of his medicine even though constipation is the usual side effect for metoclopramide). So they put him back on metronidazole. Of course he threw up twice right after they took him off the other stuff. But he bounced back immediately and started chasing Oberon around the house so it can't be all that bad. We're waiting to hear on some repeat blood work results. We're hoping his BUN is normal or I think we're looking at treating for intestinal bleeding (which based on his "runs" doesn't look to be likely). We may yet do an endoscopy to see if we can verify Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I hate to do this to the poor guy, though. It's just I'm thinking we need to be sure what we're dealing with.
I'm officially on a quest to find a good Karaoke spot in Dayton. I need to go out singing! I miss it. I just hope they have some of my stand-bys: "I want you to want me", "Nobody does it better", any powerbalad I'll sound terrible at due to the fact that I'm not a baritone even though I can get close with my lower range - thus I'm thinking "Love Hurts" (and it suits my mood). If anyone has suggestions, let me know.
As I sit here typing, Macromedia Sudio 8 is installing on my computer. Do you know what that means? FLASH!!! On my work computer! I'm so excited. Intimidated (yes) because I haven't played with it in 2 years but I miss it oh so much. Me and Flash... we have a love-hate relationship. Of course, when have any of my "relationships" NOT been love-hate ones?

So it's November. Finally. I never thought I'd be so happy to see October over. Goodbye October! Waking up this morning was like being freed from the heaviest ball and chain imaginable. October is usually my favorite month of the year. November is almost as bad as March or February, but I'm beginning to like it because with November comes the FROST! That means "goodbye seasonal allergies". But this month went so slow. Well, that's not true. It was going a little too fast until October 14th and then it started moving so slowly. Guess I've been feeling like distancing myself from Austin Texas in the third dimension hasn't been enough - maybe I can make friends with the fourth dimension. Give me the fifth dimension and I may be able to fix a few things. Wouldn't that be nice. For one thing, I would have had my tonsils out at 21.
So more Cicero news: It looks like his blood work shows evidence of possible intestinal bleeding. But he has no other signs of it. We're retesting his blood and then hopefully treating accordingly. We really don't want to have to send him through an endoscopy or exploratory surgery. For one thing it's expensive. For another, I'm the only person in this family who should be getting body parts removed.
Trick-or-Treat: Our neighborhood had some interesting costumes. My favorite was Princess Leia and her brother Luke (who I believe really was her brother). Great hair! I didn't witness the strangest costumes: "a basketball player stuck in a hoop" and "the village idiot". You'd have to ask Mike about those. Me, I threw together a half-assed "gothic school girl" and proceeded to try to fend off my "evil-hockey player" husband the entire night. He's going to kick himself when he realizes that we do actually own a camera and he didn't bother to try to take a picture. Thank goodness he didn't. But it did remind me that I REALLY miss the way I dressed when I was 16.
