Update on the IPL laser stuff. My peeling has finally almost stopped. Unfortunately I have places where more skin came off my face than others. I sort of think of myself as looking a bit like the phantom of the opera without the mask. It's a little disouraging, but i think it will heal eventually.

So a friend of mine got me hooked on a new show (well new for me... it's in it's third season) called "Project Runway". I'm sure you've heard about it. If not, it's a Heidi Klum run "reality show" on Bravo where actual talented people (debatable) compete by creating runway worthy clothing week after week. Eventually the last three show at Fashion Week and one of them wins a whole bunch of prises plus $100,000 to start their own line. Now THIS is actually fun television! It makes me want to get out my sewing machine and go to it, even though I haven't had much luck with clothing. As my husband so lovingly pointed out: "Yeah, and we all have seen how THAT turns out." Thanks, Mike.

So I guess I'm on my third day after the Intense Pulsed Light treatment. Starting to peel. Yay! Well, actually it kinda hurts. I think the only reason this time around isn't as bad as the last time around is that they gave me meds for swelling and pain. But I wish they could do something about this cracking and peeling! Man, I certainly hope this works.

My Aunt is driving up tomorrow with her friend Julie. They will be staying here one evening. I can't wait to see them. I haven't seen my Aunt in a long time and Julie is always a treat. Mike is preparing dinner, which I hope they enjoy. All this in preparation for my mother's 60th birthday bash at Tiger Stadium next Saturday! Now that is something to look forward to!

In the saga to terminate all the acne on my face, I went back in for another laser treatment today. This one was the same kerastick (levulan), but a different laser - IPL (which I think stands for Intense Pulse Light). Doc had it set from 500 to 730 or something like and explained some of the physics in the differences between the lasers (which I actually understood but wouldn't be able to spit it out again).

Anyway how the procedure was different - 1 hour of the levulan soaking in. Then they gooped my face with a numbing cream (the laser I had last time did not allow for this). I sat around with my face wrapped in saran wrap for a good long while. Then they cleand that off and put ultrasound cream on my face. After that... TONS OF ZAPS! Where as the last laser looked like a white/purple light through my bones (don't ask) this looked more like fire. It pricked, but didn't hurt quite a bad. Then they washed me off and stuck me under the bluelight again for 5 minutes. By the end of that it felt a bit like my face was on fire.

I am much more red this time than I was last time. Hurts too, but duh. Since it's a different laser I'll update on what happens. A friend who goes to the same doctor kindly loaned me two floppy hats to stay out of the sun as well as her uber-cool sunblock. I have to see if I can find that stuff online cheaply... apparently it's half the price in Canada!
