I'm sure there will be updates galore on this conferene but I've started it off on the wrong foot (of course). I jumped in the shuttle to get over to the conference center and somehow ended up sitting behind a guy who not only looked from the back and side profile like my ex-boyfriend but also SMELLED like him (sad that I remember). Then I get to the conference center and what are they doing but advertizing all over the frakking place the NEXT FlashForward conference in September. Guess where it is? I'll give you three guesses... you'll only need one: AUSTIN Frakkin' TEXAS! ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I should go just to get over my extreme phobia/hatred of that city. If I believed in signs (ok I sort of do) then I'd say that someone somewhere is trying to tell me that I need to make peace witht his area of my life and soon (before the whole thing drives me completely nuts). I hate coincidence. Hate it.

So after a long weekend of getting butt kicked by a yoga weilding Rachel Brice we finally arrive at Valentine's Day (otherwise known as my My Dad's Birthday). So I've never been very big on the holiday. In the past I've done everything from decorated picture frames, to buying romatic books and movies, stupid stuffed animals, even flowers for boyfriends. This year, for Mike, I decided to round out his "Marilyn Merlot" collection by getting him the two remaining bottles that I know of that he didn't have in his set. That's probably the best and the worst thing I could think of. Best because it helps out his Pin Up collection and appeals to his new-found love of wine, but worst because he hates reds and will never drink them... so guess who will probably be spending a few evenings sloshed. I hope Marilyn Merlot tastes good!
So back to the Rachel Brice workshop... She is such a nice woman! Very humble and graceous, not a big ego at all. I must say that the yoga was very intense and from that standpoint the workshop was great. From a dance standpoint, I don't think I walked away with much (except butt muscles I didn't know existed). But the show was VERY COOL. As always, there was some good dancing as well as some bad. My husband was particularly enthralled with the fire hoop girls, one of which I saw perform in Chicago at Michelle's thing. He also thought that one of the women working the veil was impressive. This taught me a very important lesson: If you use a very colorful veil and can manage not to drop or have it look like it weighs 80lbs (which is hard to do), no one will notice that YOU CAN'T DANCE AS WELL AS RACHEL BRICE!

So Mike and I took our first group Samba class today. I was at least happy I knew the song (Jump in the Line). I can NOT do turns to save my life! But we're still having fun. Mike says he feels like we're the D+ students of the class, and perhaps he's right. But even in the beginner's class we're still the newest beginners, I think. The funny thing is, the beginner Samba was just as hard as the intermediate Swing we tried last week. Talk about a workout!
So of course we watched the end of Dancing with the Stars. That's actually become a fun thing to do now that we're learning these dances (I've probably said that before). It's true that Stacy and Drew are the two best, but personally I'm cheering for Lisa, Jerry, and Tia. I was calling in for George but I just don't think he's as good as everyone else. They're trying to pull off last season what they did with the guy from Seinfeld... but he was at least REALLY good!
