I just returned from my latest business trip in New York. Relax, I was only there for two days so I couldn't get into that much trouble. In fact the only truly interesting thing I was able to do was go eat at Perilla, the restaurant owned by Harold, Top Chef Seaon One's winner. Regardless of the lacklustre review I read, I loved what I had to eat.
Amber, a co-worker, and I split the duck meatballs. The dish was pretty small (six meatballs total) but was delicious and was a great starter. The sauce on these was interesting and unlike anything I'd tasted before. I don't like duck, but I would order these again.
For dinner I ordered the roasted chicken which was FANFRAKKINGTASTIC! It had this layer of salt on top which was just perfect. The dish was juicy and very fresh tasting. The chicken sat on top of green and white esparrigus (which I'm sure I spelled wrong - I really need to get a spell check feature here). And desert we had the fig and plum crisp.
If you get to New York, I do recommend it, though there are probably better restaurants. It's loud, so don't expect anything super fancy in the way of atmosphere. Incidentally, I "accidentally on purpose" managed to bump into Harold, however I forgot to bring my camera. :(
